CSUN Academic Calendar 2025-2026: Important Dates

The CSUN Academic Calendar 2025–2026 is your single source for every CSUN important date, from CSUN semester dates and CSUN term dates to registration windows, add/drop/census deadlines, reading days, and final-exam periods.

CSUN follows a semester model for Fall and Spring with an extensive Summer Term broken into multiple sessions.

Expect each main semester to run roughly a full academic term (about 15–16 weeks of instruction plus finals), while the Summer Term is offered as several session options (e.g., Session 1 — full summer, Session 2 — first six weeks, Session 3 — second six weeks) so you can accelerate or catch up as needed.

CSUN Academic Calendar Fall 2025

The following are the important dates and deadlines for the CSUN Fall Semester of 2025, as outlined in the CSUN Academic Calendar 2025-2026.

1. The Fall 2025 semester officially begins with department meetings on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
2. Department meetings continue, and registration takes place on Thursday and Friday, August 21–22, 2025.
3. CSUN Fall 2025 Move-In Schedule is Friday, August 22, 2025, for Returning Residents, and Saturday, August 23, 2025, for New Residents.
4. Weekend classes begin on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
5. Weekday classes begin on Monday, August 25, 2025.
6. No instruction will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 30–31, 2025.
7. The university will observe the Labor Day holiday, and the campus will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025.
8. The Veterans’ Day holiday will be observed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, and the campus will be closed.
9. Thanksgiving Recess will take place from Thursday, November 27, 2025, through Sunday, November 30, 2025, with no classes.
10. The last day of formal instruction is Friday, December 12, 2025.
11. Final examinations will be held from Saturday, December 13, 2025, through Friday, December 19, 2025.
12. Department meetings and conferences will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025.
13. Evaluation Day, when instructors’ grades are due, is Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
14. The Fall 2025 semester officially ends on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
15. The university will be closed for the Christmas holiday break from Thursday, December 25, 2025, through Thursday, January 1, 2026.
16. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is Observed on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

CSUN Academic Calendar Spring 2026

The following are the important dates and deadlines for the CSUN Spring Semester of 2026, as outlined in the CSUN Academic Calendar 2025-2026.

1. The Winter 2026 session begins in January 2026. For the latest class schedule information, students should visit the Tseng College Winter Calendar.
2. The Spring 2026 semester officially begins with department meetings on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
3. Department meetings continue on Friday, January 16, 2026.
4. The university will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2026, and the campus will be closed.
5. Weekday classes begin on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
6. Weekend classes begin on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
7. CSUN Spring Break 2026 will take place from Monday, March 16, 2026, through Sunday, March 22, 2026, with no classes.
8. The university will observe César Chávez Day on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and the campus will be closed.
9. The last day of formal instruction is Friday, May 8, 2026.
10. The Honors Convocation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
11. Final examinations will take place from Saturday, May 9, 2026, through Friday, May 15, 2026.
12. Commencement ceremonies will be held from Friday, May 15, 2026, through Monday, May 18, 2026.
13. Instructors’ grades are due on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
14. The Spring 2026 semester officially ends on Friday, May 22, 2026.
15. The university will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026, and the campus will be closed.

CSUN Academic Calendar Summer 2026

The following are the important dates and deadlines for the CSUN Summer Semester of 2026, as outlined in the CSUN Academic Calendar 2025-2026.

1. The university will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026, and the campus will be closed.
2. Session 1 (12 weeks) and Session 2 (6 weeks) officially begin on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
3. The university will observe Juneteenth on Friday, June 19, 2026, and the campus will be closed.
4. The university will observe Independence Day on Friday, July 3, 2026.
5. Session 2 ends on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
6. Session 3 (6 weeks) officially begins on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
7. Session 1 and Session 3 officially end on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
