The Rutgers Academic Calendar 2026-2027 provides all the important dates and deadlines for the upcoming Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters across all Rutgers University campuses, including New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden.

From course registration and add/drop periods to university holidays, final exam schedules, and commencement ceremonies, stay informed and on track for a successful academic year at the State University of New Jersey.

Rutgers operates on a semester system, with Fall and Spring semesters each lasting approximately 15 weeks of instructional activity, followed by a dedicated final exam period.

You’ll also find various summer sessions (typically 3, 6, 7, 10, or 12 weeks) and a winter session (around 3-4 weeks) for flexible learning options.

Rutgers Academic Calendar Fall 2026

  1. Rutgers Fall 2026 Semester classes start on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
  2. The Fall minicourse for the first seven weeks takes place from Tuesday, September 1, 2026, through Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
  3. A change in designation of class days takes place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, when Monday classes will meet.
  4. The Fall minicourse for the second seven weeks takes place from Wednesday, October 21, 2026, through Thursday, December 10, 2026.
  5. A change in designation of class days takes place on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, when Friday classes will meet.
  6. Rutgers Thanksgiving Break 2026 is from Thursday, November 26, 2026, through Sunday, November 29, 2026. Classes resume on Monday, November 30, 2026, after the Thanksgiving Recess.
  7. Regular Fall classes end on Thursday, December 10, 2026.
  8. Reading days, during which there are no classes, take place on Friday, December 11, 2026, and Monday, December 14, 2026.
  9. Fall exams take place from Tuesday, December 15, 2026, through Tuesday, December 22, 2026.
  10. The Winter Session takes place from Wednesday, December 23, 2026, through Friday, January 15, 2027.

Rutgers Academic Calendar Spring 2027

  1. Rutgers Spring 2027 Semester classes start on Tuesday, January 19, 2027.
  2. The Spring minicourse for the first seven weeks takes place from Tuesday, January 19, 2027, through Monday, March 8, 2027.
  3. The Spring minicourse for the second seven weeks takes place from Tuesday, March 9, 2027, through Monday, May 3, 2027.
  4. Rutgers Spring Break 2027 is from Saturday, March 13, 2027, through Sunday, March 21, 2027.
  5. Regular Spring classes end on Monday, May 3, 2027.
  6. Reading days, during which there are no classes, take place on Tuesday, May 4, 2027, and Wednesday, May 5, 2027.
  7. Spring exams take place from Thursday, May 6, 2027, through Wednesday, May 12, 2027.
  8. The Rutgers–New Brunswick and Rutgers Health commencement takes place on Sunday, May 16, 2027.

Rutgers Academic Calendar Summer 2027

  1. The May Intersession, during which there are no classes, takes place from Thursday, May 13, 2027, through Monday, May 31, 2027.
  2. The Summer Session takes place from Tuesday, June 1, 2027, through Wednesday, August 18, 2027.
  3. The August Intersession, during which there are no classes, takes place from Thursday, August 19, 2027, through Tuesday, August 31, 2027.
