North Carolina State University follows a traditional semester system with two main terms.

• Fall and Spring Semesters: approximately 15 weeks each (14 instructional weeks + 1 week of finals), so if you’re asking how long a semester is at NCSU, expect about three and a half months of classes and exams.
• Summer Sessions: multiple accelerated options, including a Maymester (3‑week session), Summer Session I (5 weeks), a 10‑week full session, and Summer Session II (5 weeks), each with its own add/drop and fee deadlines.

Whether you’re planning your Fall course load, squeezing in a Maymester intensive, or budgeting for Summer Session tuition, the NCSU Academic Calendar 2026‑2027 puts all the critical dates at your fingertips, ensuring you stay on track academically and financially at NC State.
